Game of Thrones - Season 8 - All you need to know

So, yes, the long night is finally hitting the screen sooner than later. As we already know the filming of the Season 8 has already finished the editing has already started and we except a teaser or trailer in next few weeks.

D.B. Weiss and David Benioff on March 12, 2017 announced the Season 8 of Game of Thrones. Season 8 will be shorter just like the Season 7 will have six episodes as the amount of content story remained is very less than what we really seem and the filming time has gone up due to the exceptional high quality content requirement and the larger set pieces required in the filming. The filming of the new Season 8 is being scheduled to go for the October/November 2017. And the next season is likely to be premier next year Christmas i.e. 2018 December or early 2019.

As like the 6th and 7th seasons, season 8 will also be based on the two unpublished novels by George R. R. Martins - "A Song of Ice and Fire Series 'The Winds of Winter & A dream of Spring'"

As this is considered the last and final installment of the Game of Thrones series but there have been rumors that a potential prequels for shows successor is being plotted. Well that's too early to say this hence we better wait for any official for that.

Production:

January 2017, Season 8 of the Game of Thrones was put on indefinite hold as there was a disagreement between the showrunners and HBO over the number of episodes it will contain. There were rumors that HBO wanted around 12 shows to end on a high note but the showrunners wanted the 6-7 episodes and the project was stalled.

March 2017, Benioff and Weiss announced that Season 8 will have 6 episodes after they have came to an agreement with the HBO. All old writers will be there, 1st episode will have a script by Dave Hill, 2nd episode by Bryan Cogman and the remaining 4 episodes will be written by Benioff and Weiss. George R. R. Martin will not be returning to the script. The final season could contain the episodes up to 2 hours it is said.

September 2017, as Season 8 is already been  confirmed the directors David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik will direct the first 5 episodes of them and the last season finale episode will be directed by D.B. Weiss and David Benioff.
